A native of Yardley, PA, Commander Chris Dentzer graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2000, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics. CDR Dentzer reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for Aviation Preflight Indoctrination in August 2000. From there he reported to VT-28 in Corpus Christi, TX for primary flight training and VT-21 in Kingsville, TX for intermediate flight training. He earned his naval aviator wings in June 2002 and was assigned to the "Rough Raiders" of VFA-125 in Lemoore, CA to begin his initial fleet training in the FA-18C.

In August 2003, CDR Dentzer reported to the "Sidewinders" of VFA-86 to start his first operational tour in Beaufort, SC. While a "Sidewinder", he made two combat deployments in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM along with a surge deployment all aboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65).

CDR Dentzer was selected to become a Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor and upon graduating from TOPGUN in December of 2006 joined the "Diablos" of Strike Fighter Weapons School Atlantic stationed in Virginia Beach, VA. With the "Diablos", he attained his Executive Masters in Business Administration through the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.

In June 2009, he returned to the fleet as the Training Officer of the "Ragin Bulls" of VFA-37. With the "Bulls", he completed a combat deployment aboard USS TRUMAN (CVN-75) in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and NEW DAWN.

In June 2012, CDR Dentzer returned to NAS Lemoore for his department head tour with the "Fist of the Fleet" of VFA-25. As a "Fist", he completed a combat deployment aboard USS VINSON (CVN-70) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. He served as the Quality Assurance Officer, Safety Officer, Maintenance Officer, and Operations Officer.

Following his department head tour, CDR Dentzer reported to Naval War College in Newport, RI. There he received his Masters in Strategic Studies and National Security in March 2015. He selected for operational command that same month and was assigned to the "Flying Eagles" of VFA-122 to serve as Executive Officer from December 2015 to June 2016. In June 2016, he became Executive Officer for VFA-25.

CDR Dentzer has accumulated over 2,700 flight hours to include 70 combat missions and 450 carrier arrested landings. His awards include the Strike/Flight Air Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various service awards and ribbons.
